Don’t let anyone rob you of your imagination.

Hey there TechDiva!,

I am writing to you to encourage you to pursue your dreams. In today’s world, there is more opportunity than there has ever been. You can do anything and be anything you are willing to work for. It is up to you. Never forget that. Never.

When I grew up, women didn’t have so many choices. I remember sitting down with a college counselor wanting to take science classes. The counselor talked me out of it. Women could be secretaries or they could be school teachers. Those were our choices. Science classes were a waste of my time. So I took typing and short hand to satisfy what I was supposed to do. I also took science classes to satisfy what I wanted to do. It was a heavy load to do both, but I was willing for work for it. I spent some years as a secretary, but with hard work and commitment, I climbed the ladder and made a great career for myself, now in engineering at Verizon.

Keep your head up, don’t be afraid of hard work, accept failure, be respectful, accountable and grateful. Never forget where you started. Celebrate every, every achievement!

“Don’t let anyone rob you of your imagination, your creativity, or your curiosity. It’s your place in the world; it’s your life. Go on and do all you can with it, and make it the life you want to live.” Moe Jemison, first African-American woman astronaut in space.
