Hello,

It is amazing to hear about your involvement with BGC, and their unwavering commitment to empower Black girls and gender-nonconforming youth, who are continually challenged in their daily lives.  I am excited to hear and see all the amazing innovative and problem solving you bring forward, which, no doubt, will make a significant impact both today and in the future.  

This past year, I watched, comforted, cried and cheered with a very dear friend whose 26-year-old, only child, made the decision to transition.  Her STRENGTH helped her to get out of bed each morning, her COURAGE allowed her to share the journey with friends and family, her CONFIDENCE gave her a sense of hope that the future, although different, will be as bright as ever and her UNMATCHED RESILIENCE powered her into believing that she could do and face anything, with kindness and grace.  Keep these words in mind as you continue to pave the way for millions of black women, who are watching you make some awesome changes both here and around the world.

Remember: It is not a paycheck that defines you, it is your life experiences that you are made for.
