You have NO limits.
Hey there, my little sister!
My name is Audrietta Coleman Izlar. I, too, am a Black/African-American female who works for a big company, called Verizon. I want to encourage you to not be afraid of who you are, where you come from, and who your people are as they represent the legacy that you now bring to life. You are who they imagined and prayed for. You have been uniquely designed and created to bring something to the world that no one has ever seen. So as you grow and go to various places, be proud of who you are, what you know, and what you want to become. No one can take that from you.
They say “the sky is the limit”. I believe that you have NO limits….:-). While you may encounter challenges with the path that you take to bring your imagination and dreams to life, just know that perseverance, commitment, hard work and focus will get you there. As you conquer every small step on your journey, you may find yourself in the room with people who don’t look like you or come from where you came from. Don’t be alarmed, discouraged, or hold back. Just know that it’s a great opportunity to learn from those who are different and also share what makes you unique and special so they can learn. Everyone is special. Everyone is valuable. Find common ground to begin to build bridges with those that you meet. And get ready to share with your folks at least one good thing about those that you meet. Sharing helps to spread a good word about people who are different.
Stay curious, my little sister. Always seek to understand how things work, where things come from and who had a hand in bringing that thing to life. Don’t be afraid to get your hands “dirty” in taking things apart and putting them back together again. Ask loads of questions. That’s how you seek to understand. Also, don’t be afraid to work as a team. Two heads really are better than just one. Think about have 3 or 4 heads to solve a challenge! Make it fun and exciting and don’t sweat if you don’t find the answer right away. It’s totally ok if you fail at first, or the second time, or maybe a third time. You will get it and you will succeed. And you will appreciate the lessons learned from the failures.
Enjoy the journey of getting to your destination, whatever you dream that to be. Don’t let anyone deter you, even if it doesn’t make sense to them. You can do this! I believe in YOU! You’ve got this, my sister!
Sincerely,
Audrietta
