My name is Catrice and I am a math instructor in one of the inner city schools of Chicago. I have been in the education field for 10 years. I am also in charge of the STEM program within the after-school program. Since the age of 12, I have always been interested in math and knew that I wanted a career that included math and kids. I believe that anything pertaining to science, technology, engineering, and math is our future. As a math educator, I make sure to expose and explain the importance of entering a STEM career. Having a STEM career is not only engaging but also will help with your problem-solving and critical thinking skills. There are also programs and grants that will help you through the process of becoming a member of the STEM careers. Because of STEM growing demand, there is 100% job security. You are less likely to be unemployed or have an issue finding another job in the STEM field. The average salary of an engineer is around $73,00 which is a great start to build on.
