Diverse backgrounds are truly valued.
Hey there TechDiva!
It is truly amazing that you are considering a career in STEM. As someone who pursued a Masters in Medieval Literature, studying Chaucer and Anglo-Saxon, but has subsequently enjoyed a 25+ year career in technology, I can tell you from experience that my diverse background, experience, interests, and skills are truly valued every day. Yours will be too!

Be clear, be confident, and don’t overthink it.
Hey there TechDiva!
My name is Catrice and I am a math instructor in one of the inner city schools of Chicago. I have been in the education field for 10 years. I am also in charge of the STEM program within the after-school program. Since the age of 12, I have always been interested in math and knew that I wanted a career that included math and kids. I believe that anything pertaining to science, technology, engineering, and math is our future. As a math educator, I make sure to expose and explain the importance of entering a STEM career. Having a STEM career is not only engaging but also will help with your problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Gamification is big in technology.
I hope this note finds you having a great day! I wanted to write and let you know I fully support your choice of choosing a STEM career.
