Hey there!
My name is Ngozi Onyekaba. I am a female senior manager at Verizon, over a team of Engineers that use data to create pretty pictures and charts that the business use to make decisions. It’s a really cool job as it allows you to use your creativity, logical and analytical skills to design cool visuals that tell a story to the business.
Just a little bit about my background. I loved math and science from elementary school and had a very curious mind. I was always intrigued about electronics and calculators back then, and started off with getting a bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering. I then did a couple of tech roles, and finally decided to stay in the area of storytelling with data. The thing I love the most about technology is that it is ever constantly changing, so you will never be bored if you have a curious mind. Looking back now, I think I must have been a STEM nerd but back then no one really called you that.
My advice if you love math and science (i.e., the younger me) is to continue to pursue and enjoy that space. There are lots of areas and opportunities to fill your curious mind.
