Refuse to put yourself down.

I am so excited about your future - and I thank you for taking the time to make it happen. It is so important to show up in spaces where there aren’t many such as yourself represented, so shine - and lead the way for other girls and girls of color who have not yet taken such steps.
Always reflect. Self-awareness is such an important emotional intelligence to have - but also, refuse to put yourself down. We are most often our own worst enemies, but at least most of the time, we should show up to be on our own team. You can be both - a wonder in the making and a wonder in the present :)
Never dim your light. Allow who you are to tell the story of the difference and genius you bring to the table. And hold space for every reality you need. You can experience challenges and also be well-equipped to conquer what’s hard. You can be in a space where lessons are being learned from small failures, but also see the opportunities for growth that will soon turn into success stories.
Never forget who you are at your core - or detract from your inherent worth because of any trouble or struggle you may be experiencing. You’re human. No one is perfect. Everyone has to put in the effort to get where they are hopeful to be. You made it this far! You are clearly a smart, committed, and capable contributor.
And finally, although you may have heard this before, if you’re at the table - it’s because you belong there. Never be afraid to use your voice. Show up and bring new creativity and solutions to the forefront. Study hard, work hard - but learn to rest & play hard as well. Take care of yourself. You’re human.
