Don’t be afraid to take risks.
Hey there!
It’s exciting to choose a STEM field, there’s a lot of opportunities there, but it is a lot of hard work and long hours. Coding is a constantly evolving field and there are many new things coming out as you’re learning. College will be an exciting time but there will be challenges associated with that.
Here are some tips that I hope will be useful to you when studying:
Start your projects early! You don’t want to be working on the project an hour before the submission closes just to have your code not compile in the end. Starting early gives you an opportunity to ask the professor any questions about the project as you run into roadblocks.
With questions, don’t be afraid to ask them! When you speak up and ask questions in class, you may be asking questions that the rest of the students might want to but are afraid to ask.
Look into opportunities through organizations in your university, these will give you networking opportunities as well as help you figure out a good career path.
These are only a few of the useful tips I can think of, most importantly you need to have a certain tenacity when it comes to your education. Education is expensive so it is up to you to make sure you get the most out of it during the time you have. Don’t be afraid to take risks in order to see new opportunities, make the most out of it!
