Class is the golden key.
Hey there!
My name is Traci and I am a people leader for Verizon Communications. I have a B.A degree in Human Relations, a MBA and a Master’s in Human Resources. I am writing to you to provide some tips on being a successful college student.
First, choose and attend a college or university that is perfect for you! It should have activities and clubs that you are interested in socially. Additionally, it should be strong in the area that you are specifically interested in academically. Lastly, it should help you get to where you want to be professionally. You will know from the day you step foot on campus that it's the one!
Class is the golden key! Go to class everyday, take notes and be engaged. Get yourself a noting system that works for you and STUDY, STUDY and STUDY. Ask about things that don't make sense to you. Stay organized so that you can access the information that you need at the required time. Some classes offer open book tests but often they are timed for shorter periods because you should know the information. Be successful by being organized, taking notes and being engaged!
Lastly, have a great time. College is a time in your life that you can not get back. Enjoy it! It’s probably your first living experience without your parents. It’s also the first time that you are solely responsible for every action you take. Make every action count. It’s ok to go out and have fun but make sure that the business side is taken care of. I lived on campus for five years and decided that as much as I love my parents, I loved being on my own alone. I never turned back.
Speaking of business, I must go back to work now. I hope that I provided you with some tips to being successful in both college and life. Keep shooting for the moon and even if you miss, you will be amongst the STARS! Wishing you the absolute best!
