You are the author of your story.
Hey there!
My name is Vanessa, and I’m a communications expert in the technology realm of Verizon. Thanks to women like YOU, I am constantly inspired to tell the stories of the people behind our future-forward ideas, products, and solutions. It’s your creative mindset that makes my job so enjoyable - and I hope that I get to help tell your story one day.
I’ve been in the industry for almost 15 years (yikes!), and I wanted to share with you an obvious lesson - but a critically important one - that will help keep your head clear, and to stay inspired.
Be proactive.
That’s it (I told you it was obvious!). However, being proactive is easier said than done but the sooner you practice, the more naturally it’ll come to you. For example, when you get your syllabus for the year, don’t just save it in a folder. Take a good look, and break down your assignments and study time into small, manageable chunks, and schedule them into your calendar. Beyond just making information intake and practice easier, it also provides insurance incase of emergency, and your attention is diverted elsewhere.
Being proactive doesn’t just extend to your studies and your coding practice, but also, it means finding opportunities and raising your hand unapologetically. This is where you build relationships, learn, and flex your expertise. Moreso, it's where you draw inspiration. So don’t hesitate - grab what interests you, and put that hand high.
You are the author of your story. By staying proactive, you’ll uncover opportunities that fill your cup, and inspire you to do more than you ever thought you could.
Wishing you all the best in your journey ahead - and looking forward to one day hearing, or even telling, your story.
Sincerely,
Vanessa
