Hey there!
I just wanted to take a moment to share some words of encouragement on your choice to consider a STEM career. Coding is a great way to not only have a career you can enjoy but think about all of the joy you can bring to anyone/everyone using YOUR creation. I think about when I used to play video games. In the past, none of the games represented what I or my sister looked like, so we just had to imagine. Later, we started to see some representation but only in “stereotypical” roles like villains or caricatures that spoke broken English. The more diversity we have in coding, the more we will all benefit from seeing a more accurate representation and genuine creativity in storylines and character development. But again, this is just ONE way to have an impact. Did you know that you can also use those same coding skills to impact society by contributing to the development/refinement of AI? Think about it, right now software programs are being developed to do everything from drive autonomous cars to assisting with the creation of art and music. So just consider all the possibilities you can personally shape by taking on this exciting role.
