Endless possibilities.

My name is Zoe and I have been working with Verizon as a Data science consultant. Coming from a background of ten years in Data Science, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence I can highly recommend going that path as a career choice. Looking at the Data analytics field and Tech areas in general, there are more women involved today compared to a few years back, however - there is still a majority of men controlling that field.
Women can contribute a lot into that field, not only from a technical perspective, but also for their soft skills, communications and leadership perspective. As the Tech area is expanding a lot in the past few years, there are more opportunities available to young men and women to enter, influence and contribute. From an education standpoint, there are different ways to enter the tech field. From my personal experience, coming from a financial background - entering the data science field nearly 10 years ago - it is definitely possible for people with different educational backgrounds to start working. There are also a lot of options to learn coding as part of boot camps, across the country and start as junior positions. As a Data scientist and as a mother of young kids, I can tell that there are endless possibilities with the going Tech field and women can take a meaningful part of it. Would highly recommend trying to enter that world as there is a place for everybody in it.
