Get inspired

Remember to always believe in you.
Hello My Beautiful young queen, I just wanted to write and encourage you and your future self in pursuing your education endeavors and choosing a STEM career path. As we know, the world we live in is constantly changing, evolving, transforming, etc... but a lot of that change comes from people like you and I. We all want to live a happy and purposeful life and its important for us to be intentional with helping in creating positive changes within our families, communities, and those who we hope to inspire around the world. We want to be an example of THAT change or difference we can make in today's society. Pursuing a STEM career can and will change the trajectory of how we see our world today.

Trust yourself!
Hey there!
Way to go on choosing such a fun and challenging hobby or career with coding. When I was younger, the only coding experience I had was fiddling and changing the music or color on my Myspace page! Now women all over the world are changing their lives by learning how to code and creating meaningful contributions to society. Coding is EVERYWHERE! Computers speak in 0’s and 1’s – wouldn’t it be easier if humans would be able to do that instead of trying to translate each other's words? There would definitely be a change in how we teach and communicate with each other.

You have great potential!
Hey there!
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Tranice Davis and I am currently a Social Media Specialist with Verizon Fios. I graduated from American Intercontinental University with a Bachelor's in Visual Communications. As someone who deeply values education and personal growth, I wanted to share a few thoughts and words of encouragement as you consider the path of a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Life is not fair, and don’t expect it to be.
Hello my next up and coming Rising Black Female Trailblazers!
I came from a place where I was counted out, and you may have come from that same place. However, let no one tell you that you can’t, because they probably couldn’t do it.

Every expert was once a beginner.
Dear STEM Students:
Embarking on a journey in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics is no small feat. Remember, each challenge you face is a stepping stone towards innovation and discovery. Your hard work and curiosity are shaping the future, making the impossible possible.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Greetings ladies,
Walt Disney said “If you can dream it, YOU CAN DO IT.” When it comes to studying and choosing a career in STEM (Science, Technology Engineering Mathematics) the sky's the limit. In making any dream into a reality it comes with questions, brainstorming, research and hard work. I would suggest pacing yourself to reach your overall goal. Set minor and attainable steps so you don’t feel overwhelmed in the long run.

Keep pushing forward.
Hey there!
Many of us grew up in a time when we heard, “It takes a village.” I am sure you have heard that same expression. You are receiving this letter today because the voices of your village want you to know that we see you and are surrounding you with love and support.

Diversity is a gift to the world.
HI.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Why is STEM for you? You can be ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO BE IN THIS WORLD! The world is your oyster. DO you love Science, technology, engineering or math? The world needs more people that look like you. We need more leaders that are willing to go after a passion that will help them to be successful in life. Dream big and keep learning.

Consistency is key!
Hey there!
If you are reading this, do not give up! In addition to being an employee at Verizon, I am also a senior Information Science and Technology student at Penn State University. My college journey has been difficult thus far, however what supported me the most is community. Networking and establishing professional relationships and friendships with other women in STEM has turned out to be the best support system that someone in my shoes could ask for. Please do not underestimate the impact that networking can have on your journey. Also, please do not be too bashful to ask for help!

Stay hungry for knowledge.
Hey There!
As a young female professional who just graduated from college last year, I have been in a position of constant change, growth, and learning over the past year. Here are some pointers I have been learning along the way, and still have so much to learn along with you…

Representation matters.
Hello Super Star,
You are doing a great job taking the first step in your path of greatness. I personally wish I would have had the foresight at such a young age to be a part of Stem. For me it was not something that was really talked about when I was in school so I know how important representation is. Representation means knowing it can be done and being inspired. So here are a few women to inspire you today. Take some time to read their full stories.

Never underestimate the power of your dreams.
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to you today with admiration for your ambition and determination as you consider pursuing careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Your decision to venture into these fields not only showcases your intellect but also your resilience in breaking barriers and shaping the future. As African American women, you stand at the intersection of brilliance and possibility, poised to make significant contributions to society and inspire generations to come. In a world where diversity is paramount, your unique perspectives and experiences will enrich the landscape of STEM, driving innovation and progress.

Innovators are not followers.
Hey there!
The fact that you are reading this already speaks volumes. You have taken the hardest step so far, deciding to be a part of something big. We need outside of the box thinkers, leaders. Someone who is not afraid to step out of the line and go their own way. Innovators are not followers, they have followers.

Don’t be intimidated.
Hey there!
I am an African American woman who started coding in elementary school. I remember when I was in in the 10th grade my computer programming instructor asked me to enter a computer programming contest with two male classmates. I was the only African American. I didn’t think I was good enough but, I joined them. During the actual competition, I was only able to complete two programs total. I felt so sad. I felt I had let my team down. Then at the award ceremony it was announced that we came in first place. You should have heard the silence when I with my afro walked up to accept the award with my Caucasian and Asian male team mates. This was in the eighties and everyone in the audience was literally stunned.

Let reality be reality.
Hey there,
I am writing to encourage you to pursue a careerin the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) fields. More than ever, technology and science are shaping the future of the world in which we live. The exciting fields within the STEM disciplines are essential to helping us solve monumental challenges for our planet, improve our quality of life, reach new horizons of discovery, and are simply put just the coolest careers to have. My studies of Radio Frequency topics frommy classes in electrical engineering inspiredme to pursue a careerin telecommunications.

Elevate your performance.
Hey there!
I hope you are filled with excitement about an opportunity in STEM. I want to celebrate your interest and enthusiasm for these fields and encourage you to pursue your dreams with determination. You truly can accomplish what you set out to do! The hard work will be rewarding.

Take on new challenges.
Hey there!
You may have some curiosity about the field of STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - by reading my message. I assure you that while it may sound boring or uninteresting STEM careers are some of the most important on the planet! Think about all the technology you use everyday (internet, apps on your phone, remote learning, shopping, etc) in your daily life. Without smart, curious and interested people, none of these daily conveniences would be possible without STEM knowledge.

The world needs your contributions.
Dear Black Girls Code students,
I wanted to take a moment to encourage and inspire each and every one of you to consider pursuing a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). As young black girls, you have the potential to make a significant impact in these fields and help shape the future of technology. It is no secret that the tech industry is lacking diversity, especially when it comes to women and people of color. By choosing a career in STEM, you have the opportunity to be a trailblazer and pave the way for others who may not see themselves represented in these fields.
