STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Why is STEM for you? You can be ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO BE IN THIS WORLD! The world is your oyster. DO you love Science, technology, engineering or math? The world needs more people that look like you. We need more leaders that are willing to go after a passion that will help them to be successful in life. Dream big and keep learning.
The world needs someone that looks like you in STEM! Reality is that it takes more from women and African Amercians than other cultures. Some people think this is a bad thing. I like to think that this is a great opportunity for us to shine. What does not kill us makes us stronger. It is important to study and study hard. Don’t race against others around you. Race against the dreams that you set for yourself. Be your best self. You can accomplish every goal that you set out for yourself. Keep growing and learning and studying. You are worth every minute that you set aside for yourself and every moment that you take now will allow you a moment of rest later in life.
Everyone learns differently. For me, I like to go to Panera and take my books and read and take notes in a quiet area alone. Before I know it, hours have passed and I have accomplished a lot. Whatever it takes for you to accomplish what you need to do, you owe it to yourself.
I was told by my mother that I could be whatever I wanted to become. I wish that she would have pushed me a little harder to study to achieve the best that I could. She sent me to the best schools and allowed me to choose the path that I wanted to take. But once you decide what you want to do in life, there is a plan that needs to be developed. Talk to people that you would consider successful. Ask them what helped them to get where they are today. More than likely they will point out times that they failed and have to pull themselves up. The key is to get up quickly and continue on. If you surpass your goals that you set for yourself, make more.
