Be a Leader.
My message is simple: representation and diversity is vital to the greatness of this Country. As you’re in school you learn so many things. The moments we spend in school we learn about how to adapt and socialize, and we learn about what we like and don’t like. I urge you to be bold and try to do things that seem not as easy. What you will get to learn is sometimes the things others tell you are hard, are just hard for them because they haven’t made the decision to try to learn them. STEM is such an incredibly important decision that will be rewarding. Sometimes Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Math is confused with being the hardest things.

Face challenges head on.
First, I just want to congratulate you on making the decision to take this journey! STEM leaders are so incredibly important today, and as black STEM leaders, the difference that you’re going to make is so incredibly important. Coding is such a vital skill to have in today’s world and it will take you as far as you want to go as long as you put the work in.

Don't stop.
As a fellow Girl, first of all You Rock! I want you to know that you can do anything you put your mind and heart to, and don't let ANYONE stop you from your dreams. Look at it as a way to motivate and push you further to your dreams. You got this!

Never give up.

To my beautiful young sista: Keep making choices that are going to revolutionize the future. You are the one that is going to shape and create a magnificent world. Keep dreaming. Keep creating. Everything you set your mind to do, you can achieve. You are amazing in every way. Promise to never give up, no matter how difficult it gets. Stay strong, no matter how heavy the load gets. Most of all, never give up no matter how weird or strange it may appear to someone else. Keep believing in you!

Live your life fearlessly.

“It’s through adversity that you find the strength you never knew you had.”– Christie Brinkle
“When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place.”

The world awaits you.
Congrats on beginning your journey into STEM. I couldn’t be more proud to hear a fellow female is going into STEM and I am even more thrilled for what this step will do for your future. Whenever you feel discouraged - remember to keep a great spirit, hard working attitude and willingness to try new things. Most importantly, remember to never give up on your dreams.

Meant for you.
First thing I would like to say is how much black girls rock!!!! I know this because I was raised by one of the most incredible women in the world….my mother. She was single with 3 boys and trust me when I say we were quite a handful. But despite all the challenges she faced, despite the numerous times that the world tried to dim her star, she always stayed focused on making sure her sons were educated, respectful, and contributed something to the world that helped make a difference. These were her goals and we are all grown ups now with our own families. None of us have ever spent any time in prison, we have no felonies, and we are all educated.

Stay positive, stay committed.
My name is Israel and I’m a Supervisor at Verizon. As a minority, I’ve faced some chalIenges along the way and I want to encourage you to not let anything get in the way of your dreams and what you want to achieve. Challenge yourself and have a plan to overcome obstacles that may stand in your way. Challenge biases by coming up with strategies that help you and your organization improve.

Set your mindset.
My name is Gaby and I want to let you know that I am so proud at all your accomplishments. I know it can be hard and difficult at times to reach your goals and dreams however its not impossible. Anytime you feel you are not getting somewhere or when things are not coming up the way you thought it would be, take a step back and look at all that you have accomplished.

Don’t be discouraged.
I’m so happy that you are interested in STEM subjects at such a young age. I am glad that there are programs around to further support your interest.
Tech is a space that many black girls who have become women are in today. As you move through education and begin your career, it’s important that you know that sometimes there may not be people who look like you in the room. I encourage you to take up space anyway, because you are building the groundwork for those who will come after you and you are deserving of your spot.
