Don’t let anything stop.
Hey there!
My name is Jenna and I work as a Graphic Design Senior Manager. This is a field that has traditionally been male-dominate, as it’s within the advertising/marketing industry. I am proud to say that I work on a team of 10 people, where more than half are women, including my associate director. I love seeing more female representation in the workplace and especially this field. It’s very encouraging and I hope you continue to follow your dreams in STEM. Don’t let anything stop you from being who, and what, you want to be!

Challenge stereotypes.
Dear Women in STEM,
I write to you today with admiration and encouragement for your pursuit of careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Your contributions to these fields are invaluable, and your presence is crucial for driving innovation and progress. I want to emphasize the importance of diversity and inclusion in the STEM fields. It is essential that women, along with individuals from diverse backgrounds, are represented and supported in these industries. Diversity fosters creativity, problem-solving, and a broader range of perspectives, ultimately leading to more robust and impactful solutions to the world's challenges.

Endless possibilities.
Hey there!
My name is Zoe and I have been working with Verizon as a Data science consultant. Coming from a background of ten years in Data Science, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence I can highly recommend going that path as a career choice. Looking at the Data analytics field and Tech areas in general, there are more women involved today compared to a few years back, however - there is still a majority of men controlling that field.

Get out of your comfort zone.
Hey there!
My name is Sarah and I live in Florida. I originally grew up in NY but do not miss the cold weather and snow. The town I grew up in was very small and had an environment where some of the Mom’s still stayed home to take care of their children and took care of the house. Most of the Dad’s worked, not the women. But my mother did work, she was a nurse and both my parents always encouraged me to follow my dreams and challenge myself. Growing up in a small town sometimes limits your opportunities but I made sure I always had the mindset to be determined.

Your work is essential.
Dear Black Girls Code Team,
I am writing to express my unwavering support for your organization's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. The challenges faced by black girls and women in the field of technology are undeniable, and it is organizations like Black Girls Code that are leading the way in addressing these issues. By providing opportunities for black girls to explore and excel in the world of coding and technology, you are not only empowering individuals but also creating a more diverse and inclusive tech community. Your dedication to bridging the gender and racial gap in STEM fields is truly commendable and inspiring.

Listen to your own voice.
Hey there!
Listen to your own voice. Too many people listen to the noise of the world, instead of themselves. Deep inside, you know what you want, let no one decide that for you. And always remember, big change comes from hundreds of tiny steps and they all matter.

Don’t let anyone stand in your way.
Hey there!
So I wanted to reach out and send my encouragement to enter a tech field. As a tech professional, it’s fun, interesting and challenging. And let’s just face it, the future is tech. I work in a creative field but we interact with tech every day and my college education has been a key success in my career. In the course of your pursuit, you’re going to run into a lot of barriers. Some of those could involve anything from the color of your skin to the personal sexual preference.

Diversity fosters creativity.

Hey there!
My name is Casey and I am a Business Operations Support manager at Verizon. I have always been interested in coding and writing programs, since I was a little girl in elementary school (back before Windows and personal computers were a thing, can you believe it?!!!) using a keyboard attached to a little TV/Computer adapter on a little TV. Times have changed A LOT, but programming and coding are still a passion of mine (when I get the time, anyway). I am so happy to be able to support the next generation of female coders!! Here are some tips I can offer, just based on my experience:

Technology is always evolving.
Hey there!
STEM is an excellent choice for a career path. There are so many opportunities in this space. There is something out there for everyone. Technology is always evolving and a huge part in everything we do and our daily lives. Follow your dreams and never give up. Remain fluid, continue your curiosity and wanting to learn. Speaking from experience, having worked in the technology field for a long time, you learn something new every day.

Learn complex topics.
Hey there!
My name is Bob and I am a Solution Architect for Verizon in New Jersey. I always want people to be able to pursue their interests regardless of what they are, but I have always felt lucky that when I was growing up, I was good at math and the various sciences. I feel it enabled me to pursue an education that has allowed me to work in a field that truly interests me and be a successful adult. I would encourage anyone who has an interest in anything STEM related to pursue it fully.
